The age of the Internet
By James Wedgeworth on September 13th, 2010This past Friday night my son and I went to an Atlanta Braves game. We did not have tickets before the game, but my son said he was going to buy them on Stubhub. I could not believe how great our seats were – we were right behind the 3rd base dugout.
After talking to my son about it, it made me realize that stubhub reminds me of the real estate market. Good sellers monitor their prices on stubhub because most people look for the best deal – a combination of the best seat and best price. As you get closer to the game prices often go down – people change their ticket prices on an hour by hour basis.
People always look for a good buy – whether it is for a baseball game or in the real estate market. Good real estate sellers will look at their competition because they often want their property to sell.
Websites like stubhub have also affected the way tickets are purchased. Often times people would go to a game and buy tickets off the street. I compare these tickets sellers to print advertising which has been affected by the Internet – just another affect of the age of the Internet.
