Happy New Year from Hilton Head!  The holidays are over and it’s back to business on our blog!

Spring is just around the corner and that means that there are lots of activities and things to do on Hilton Head Island.

One of the upcoming events that keeps getting bigger and bigger on Hilton Head is Restaurant Week.  Restaurant Week is scheduled to begin January 21st and runs through January 28th.  Many local restaurants participate and offer menus so you can sample their fare.

More restaurants continue to add their menus; check out where you can dine here!

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is next week; where has the fall gone.

Every year a lot of people ask where they can eat on Thanksgiving Day.  I’ve heard of a few restaurants offering a nice menu, but I would love for you to share more restaurants that you know of.

Robert Irvine’s Eat will be offering Thanksgiving dinner from 1pm-5pm; call for more information or reservations.

The Chart House will also be offering a Thanksgiving meal.

What other restaurants are offering a Thanksgiving meal?  Please share here!

As I was driving to work this morning, I noticed this license plate on the car in front of me.  It was pretty clear to me that these people were from New Jersey and they wanted to move to Hilton Head Island.

I think it great to live in a place where everyone wants to be.  I can’t believe how many people have even said that of all places they would want to live, it would be Hilton Head.

Why?  Maybe it’s the year round good weather; sure, there might be one month a year when they might rather be in South Florida and there might be 6 weeks in the summer that they might prefer to be in the North Carolina mountains, but overall – Hilton Head has PERFECT weather!  Not to mention all the great things Hilton Head offers – world class golf, beaches, shopping, dining and entertainment.

I was fortunate enough to move to Hilton Head Island when I was just 30 years old – a lot of people wait and retire here.  I’m one of the lucky 35,000 who get the opportunity to call Hilton Head Island home.

It’s Restaurant Week!

By James Wedgeworth on January 18th, 2011

It’s that time of year again; Hilton Head Island Chamber Restaurant Week.  You can dine out at many Hilton Head restaurants for a sampling of their best dishes at a discounted price.

The only problem; choosing a restaurant from the great list – and you only have a week.  Haven’t seen who’s participating – click here for a list of restaurants with their special menus.

If you’ve already been out and about this week on Hilton Head and have had a great meal tell us about it!

Thanksgiving on Hilton Head Island

By James Wedgeworth on November 22nd, 2010

Are you going to be on Hilton Head Island for Thanksgiving and you don’t know what you are going to eat or where you are going to have your festive meal?  Fear not, there are lots of great options at all different price points.  Here are a few suggestions that I know of; please comment if you have other suggestions!

Red Fish is a fantastic restaurant on the south end of the island that will be offering a 4-course menu with lots of Thanksgiving favorite (and maybe a few new ones).  Click here for additional information on menu items, pricing and hours.

The Westin Resort will also be offering a Thanksgiving day meal; click here for pricing and other information.

I have also heard that CQs and Old Fort Pub offer Thanksgiving dining, but have not seen a menu.

Skillets Cafe is located on the south end of the island near Coligny Circle and will be open on Thanksgiving day offering their regular menu and a special Thanksgiving menu.

Crane’s Tavern is another great restaurant that will have abbreviated hours on Thanksgiving day – check the Crane’s Tavern website and call for more details.

Robert Irvine’s eat will also be open offering a Thanksgiving menu.

Know of a restaurant offering a great Thanksgiving meal – PLEASE SHARE!!

From Hilton Head Island to a town near you…

By James Wedgeworth on September 16th, 2010

Have you ever been in your hometown and wished you could eat at one of your favorite Hilton Head Island restaurants?  I know I have heard from more than one person that they have that one particular restaurant that they can’t wait to eat at when they come to the island.

Well, for one of your favorite island eateries it might not be long until you have the chance to dine there somewhere else.

Truffles Cafe has signed a deal with Ruby Tuesday in order to expand nationally.  The first location has been set in the Buckhead section of Atlanta and there could be several more opening in 2011.

If you are not familiar with Truffles Cafe, click here to visit their website and see a copy of their menu.  They are currently in three locations; Sea Pines Plantation near Harbour Town, Pope Avenue and in the Belfair Shopping Center in Bluffton.

Read the article from The Island Packet to learn more about this exciting expansion.
