I was watching television last night and saw an advertisement for Angie’s List. If you are not familiar with it, it’s a great service that recommends different goods and services.
It reminded me of a little list I have that I like to call “Jim’s List”. It’s a list of qualified contractors and service providers that we use on a daily basis.
I was on a listing appointment yesterday and my clients told me that they had been looking for a good plumber for months and had been unsuccessful in getting someone to their home. I pulled out my phone and called one of our contractors who does great work for us frequently and they were there by the end of the day.
We think it’s important to keep a list of these qualified, quality service providers and we are happy to help you when you need help finding a service provider. There’s no fee involved – just call Kathy Taggart at my office – 1.800.831.0359.

Today’s Hilton Head Island Real Estate “deal of the day” is a great, direct oceanfront home in North Forest Beach.
It’s an older home, but sits in a great private location – right on the ocean!

That’s a pretty big number; I think anyone would agree.
If you haven’t heard, this is the number that has been agreed upon for a mortgage settlement with borrowers who might be under water on their mortgages or nearing foreclosure.
It’s important to know that this deal is made with 5 banks including Bank of Ameria, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Ally Bank and Wells Fargo.
There is still a lot more to be determined with this settlement so we’ll just have to wait and see what happens; but I’m not sure that this is going to completely solve the problem.
Unfortunately, I don’t know many property owners on Hilton Head who are in this position that want to stay in their property – they want out.
